Why did Sarah laugh at this, saying, "But having grown old, will I truly bear?" Is anything too wondrous for the Eternal? I will return to you at the right time and season - and for Sarah, a son. - Genesis 18:13
Indeed, I will return to you at the right time and then - a son for Sarah your wife.
- Genesis 18:10
Where is Sarah your wife? - Genesis 18:9
Yes, do as you have said. - Genesis 18:5
Yet, Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you are to call his name Isaac. I will establish my contract with him as an everlasting contract for his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Here, I will bless him and make him fruitful and multiply him very greatly. He will beget twelve princes. I will make him into a large nation, but I will establish my contract with Isaac whom Sarah will bear for you at this season in the coming year. - Genesis 17:19-21
Sarai, your wife - do not call her name Sarai, because Sarah is her name. I will bless her, and I will also give you a son from her. I will bless her, and she will become nations. Kings of people will come form her. - Genesis 17:15-16
You are to safeguard my contract, you and your descendants after you, throughout their generations. This is my contract between me and you and your descendants after you which you will safeguard: Every male among you is to be circumcised. You are to circumcise the flesh of your foreskin. It will be a sign of the contract between me and you. You are to circumcise every male among you at eight days old throughout your generations - house-born or money-bought from any foreigner who is not of your descendants. Your house-born and your money-bought must be circumcised, so my contract will be in your flesh as an everlasting contract. As for an uncircumcised male who does not circumcise the flesh of his foreskin, his soul will be cut off from his people - he has breached my contract.
- Genesis 17:9-14
Behold, my contract is with you. You will be a father to many nations. Your name will no longer be called Abram, but your name will be Abraham, because I have made you a father of many nations. Therefore, I will make you very very fruitful and will make you into nations, and kings will emerge from you. I will establish my contract between me and you and your descendants after you in their generations as an everlasting contract to be God to you and to your descendants after you. I will give the land of your wanderings, the whole land of Canaan, as an everlasting portion to you and to your descendants after you. I will be God to them. - Genesis 17:4-8
I am God Almighty! Walk before me and be perfect! Then, I will grant my contract between me and you, and I will multiply you very greatly. - Genesis 17:1-2
Now you are pregnant and will bear a son. You are to name him Ishmael, because the Eternal has heard your suffering. However, he will be a wild man - his hand against all, and everyone's hands against him. And he will dwell among all his brothers. - Genesis 16:11-12
